About 6 months ago, I was on Instagram scrolling through my feed when I saw #NT legend @airrev post a photo of what I thought was an original pair of K-Swiss SI-18 International from 1989. I posted "No way!" and forgot about the shoes. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when another colorway popped up on my screen. I knew then that I was late and K-Swiss had re-issued the "Tennis Shoe of the Year" (3 years in a row). I told myself that I HAD to have one!

I remember drooling over my cousin kuya Bernard's pair back in the early 90's. It was one of the few models that I always wanted but missed out on as a kid because I was only limited to 1-2 pairs of sneakers per school year. My brothers and I had the K-Swiss Classic and they became part of my sneaker rotation for years. I even picked up a pair of wheat/gum Classics and wore them (with the tags on, lol) to the K-Swiss International-sponsored Sneaker Pimps Manila back in 2005. With my undying love for timeless sneakers, the SI-18 International remained as my K-Swiss holy grail for over 20 years.

These may not be the OG colorway but the 1992 version is just as sweet! Thank you K-Swiss and Eric Sarin for bringing them back! You can check out his interview HERE.

When Nike dropped the Nike Dunk High Premium SB De La Soul earlier this year, y'all were quick to ask about the lows. Well, the wait is over. Let the madness begin this Saturday at we Legendary Ronac. Doors open at 9 am!

Nike Dunk Low Premium SB "De La Soul" (Safari/Baroque Brown-Altitude Green) - 5,795 pesos. Sizes US7.5 to 12.

"The De La Soul Dunk Ain’t Dead.

In 1989, Long Island trio De La Soul boldly announced their arrival on a burgeoning hip-hop scene with oodles of clever wordplay, a perfect grip of eclectic samples and a unique point of view the likes of which the genre had never seen before. The result was 3 Feet High and Rising, the group’s classic debut album that largely bucked hip hop trends of the day in favor of a sound one could only characterize as more peace medallion than dookie gold chain. Posdnuos, Trugoy the Dove and PA Mase (aka Plugs 1, 2 and 3) eschewed the typical braggadocio-style of rhyming from that era with a more laid-back leftfield approach, simultaneously expanding any perceived limitations in hip-hop as well as the audience make-up of those who listen to it. Transmitting live from Mars, The DA.I.S.Y. Age (short for Da Inner Sound Ya’ll) had officially begun.

As long-time fans of both the group and their music, a fresh-faced Nike SB released a Dunk Low Premium SB in honor of De La’s debut opus in 2005. A key release in SB’s crucial early years, the collaboration quickly became one of the brand’s most successful and sought-after releases.

n 2015, Nike SB is proud to announce that the D.A.I.S.Y. Age has returned. Commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the original high, the legendary De La Soul Dunk is back in an all-new low version, complete in premium baroque brown/altitude green leather with vinyl holographic uppers once again featuring 3 Feet High’s iconic album cover artwork. Don’t sleep on this incredible encore performance."

I swore years ago I would never post a "Complex" or "Buzzfeed" type of list but when I saw drama brewing on my facebook feed over heavily discounted signature basketball shoes and talking to Mark we Legendary about it and the current state of the local market, I figured I might as well poke fun at everybody involved (minus the retailer/s where the stocks came from).  Resellers trying to take advantage of the sale by scooping up items that stores can't even move, "online authority" getting mad at them for reselling GR shoes (read: You should only sell limited ones! LOL), and everything in between is funny.

The jig is up, yo.
