So this really happened two weeks ago.
I started getting gallstone attacks last year and was told by my doctor that I should undergo a laparoscopy procedure to remove the gallstones but the genius in me delayed it thinking that meds and a better diet would make the problem disappear. I was wrong. DEAD WRONG.
The attacks became more frequent and lasted longer. When I first started getting them, the pain only lasted for a few hours. The week before I checked myself in the hospital, the pain was there 24 hours a day. Meds didn't help anymore and no matter what I ate I still suffered from non-stop attacks.
If you're not familiar with gallstone attacks, THEY ARE THE WORST. You get this dull pain in your abdominal area and it radiates through your back. You'll become restless and sleep will only be possible when the pain goes away. You'll get chills and vomit when the pain becomes unbearable. My case was so severe I couldn't even stand up straight and walk properly. I looked like The Hunchback of Notre Dame for real. How bad was the pain? It's something I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.
By the time I opted for surgery, laparoscopy was sadly not an option anymore. My insides were so inflamed the doctors had to perform an open cholecystectomy to completely remove my gallbladder. What was inside? The doctors found ten pea-sized gallstones. TEN!
I'm glad those shits are out of my system but now I have an 8 inch incision on the right side of my abdomen. My friends with babies told me that what I have is longer than their C-section. GASP.
My doctors said that it'll take about a month before I fully recover. I already see myself suffering from cabin fever several times before I get over this.
Thank you for all the love and prayers the past couple of weeks. I'm sorry if I declined your requests to visit me at the hospital. I didn't want anyone to see me like that. (I even said no to my kids visiting)
BIG THANK YOU to all the doctors and nurses who made everything easier for me at Capitol Medical Center. I swear this country needs to start paying nurses what they deserve and more.
The BIGGEST THANK YOU to my family and A who took care of me round the clock. Someday, I will be able to repay your kindness.
For now, it's back to work for me so I can pay the ridiculous hospital bills little by little.
Please patient with me as I work on this site's backlog one entry at a time.
